Edvald Boasson Hagen wins the stage 3 of the Criterium du Dauphine 2012
Edvald Boasson Hagen secured an important victory during the stage 3 of the Criterium Du Dauphine 2012 after his splendid performance during the 167 kilometre chase to La Clayette.
Gerald Ciolek of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep occupied the second position with Borut Bozic of Team Astana and Roger Kluge of Team Argos-Shimano achieved the third and the fourth positions in the respective order.
Murilo Antoniobil Fischer of Team Garmin-Barracuda, Tony Gallopin of Team RadioShack-Nissan and Davide Cimolai of Team Lampre-ISD occupied the next three positions.
While commenting on his stage victory the Norwegian cited, “It was a nice day for the team”.
“The team did a good job to keep Bradley in the front and I could sit behind. I won, it’s not easy. I’m really happy”.
“It’s a really strong team with Bradley in yellow and I’m mainly here to help him but I got the chance to sprint today”.
“I’m happy to ride for the team, it’s a great team. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that we can keep yellow for the rest of the race”.
Boasson is having a terrific season and has already filled his bag with numerous victories including an overall victory at the Glava Tour of Norway.
He also bagged stages at the Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta ao Algarve, Criterium du Dauphine and the Glava Tour of Norway.
The 25-year-old started his professional pursuit with Team High Road in 2008 and stayed with the side by the end of 2009 season.
He accepted an offer from Team Sky in 2010 and has helped the team with numerous performances in the past season.
Boasson topped the point’s category of the race with a total number of 25 UCI points to his credit.
Gerald Ciolek of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep, Borut Bozic of Team Astana, Roger Kluge of Team Argos-Shimano and Murilo Antoniobil Fischer of Team Garmin-Barracuda achieved the next four positions.
Wiggins is still leading the stage 3 classifications with a lead of 1 second over Cadel Evans of Team BMC.
Andriy Grivko of Team Astana is further one second behind at the third spot with Carlos Barredo of Team Rabobank and Tony Martin of Team Omega Pharma-QuickStep holding the fourth and the fifth positions.
