Edvald Boasson and Mark Cavendish enjoying their re-union at Team Sky
Mark Cavendish accepted an offer from the British side, Team Sky to continue his 2012 pursuit and was reunited with his old team-mate Edvald Boasson Hagen.
Cavendish represented the American side, Team HTC-Highroad for the 2011 season after joining the squad in 2006.
He helped the team with numerous victories during his stay and was amongst the top cyclists of the team.
The American team announced its demise by the end of 2011 season and Mark had to find a new home for his 2012 season.
On the other hand, Edvald Boasson Hagen started his professional career with Team High Road in 2008 and stayed with the team for a period of two years.
Hagen accepted an offer from Team Sky in 2010 and is continuing his third consecutive season with the team.
The duo rode under the same team for a period of two years and was sensational with their brilliant victories during the 2008-09 seasons.
The two are now united again in Team Sky and are enjoying their splendid combination in the British team.
They are currently riding the Tirreno-Adriatico and helped the team with the fourth place finish at the Team’s Time Trial stage 1 of the race.
Australian side, Team GreenEdge claimed the first spot with Team RadioShack-Nissan at the second and Team Garmin-Barracuda at the third position.
Cavendish claimed the second stage of the race and thanked Hagen for his support.
He told tv2.no “I am very happy to be together with Boasson Hagen again, we got along well when we were in Highroad, and I look forward to working with him again. He's a great guy both on and off the bike”.
Hagen also shared the same emotions. “He is the same as before, so it's fun to ride together. It felt like when we were together last time,” he said.
He further added, “As it happens, both Thomas (Lövkvist) and (Bernhard) Eisel were here too, it's just like in the old days. Like old school friends who meet again”.
Boasson is currently holding the 18th overall spot after the stage 2 classifications while Team Sky leader Mark Cavendish is at the fifth overall spot.
Cavendish is 13 seconds behind the race leader Matthew Harley Goss and is looking good to claim the overall spot at the final general classifications.
