Edward Loar records his first Nationwide Tour win in Panama
Edward Loar won his debut Nationwide Tour title at the sensational event of Panama Championship on Sunday, March 4, 2012.
The 34-year-old left-hander American professional golfer finished the four-day event by scoring a 4-under par and 276 strokes in total.
His performance till the third day was amazing, as he scored 14 massive birdies and an eagle.
However, he failed to continue his impressive performance and displayed the worst performance in the final round.
He started the game on Sunday and carded three bogeys, with one triple bogey as well.
"The triple was just bad shots followed by bad shots," Loar said. "I was thinking I was glad I had a four-shot lead to start with. I obviously let a lot of people back in the tournament".
He was about to lose the game due to his poor performance, but he suddenly recorded a 6-foot par on the final hole and saved his leading position.
He finished the final round by carding a 4-over 74 on the leaderboard.
He won the title with a one-stroke lead over four players Cameron Percy, Ryan Armour, Luke List and Brian Smock. A tough competitive battle was seen at the Panama Golf Club, Panama City.
"Yeah, I was nervous," Loar said. "It was the first time in a while that I'd been in the lead, especially on a stage like this. I think anybody that said they weren't is crazy.
"On a course like this anything can happen as it's shown all week. Unfortunately, it came up and bit me a couple of times".
Loar has also won two Asian Tour events in 2003 and 2004. The current season at Nationwide Tour is a memorable one for his earnings of the winning prize of $99,000.
"I really haven't played that good out here," Loar said. "Hopefully, this will give me some gratification that I actually belong out here".
He started the 2012 season from Professional Golf Association but unimpressively missed the cut at three tournaments out of four.
Now he has a chance to continue his winning streak at the upcoming PGA tournaments.
He will also be playing and chasing the title of Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com.pk at the sensational venue of Trump International Golf Club, Puerto Rico Rio Grande, PUR.
