Edwards to replace injured Kemar Roach for Bangladesh tour – Cricket News Update

Roach suffered the injury while playing a club game in Barbados last month, and failed to pass a fitness test ahead of the team’s departure. He will now stay back and commence rehabilitation, which is likely to keep him out for at least three to four weeks.

Ottis Gibson, the Windies coach, said that losing Roach is a huge blow as he remains an integral part of the Test side. The pacer took 39 scalps this year at an impressive average of 22.25.

His replacement will be Edwards, who was omitted for the home series against the Kiwis but was a part of the World T20 squad, which went onto register their maiden shortest-version triumph. Edwards has been criticized for his erratic displays in the past but Gibson is confident that the player can deliver the goods when the Test series starts from November 13 in Mirpur.
