Edwin Encarnacion’s double RBIs help Toronto Blue Jays defeat Baltimore Orioles 8-5 – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays’ designated hitter, Edwin Encarnacion had a remarkable day with the bat as he had two RBIs with a solo homer and went 3-for-4 in the Blue Jays’ 8-5 victory against the Baltimore Orioles at Rogers Centre, Toronto on July 28.
Orioles’ batters added two runs at the top of the first inning as J.J. Hardy homered (394  feet) and Vladimir Guerrero homered (351 feet) towards left-field to raise the their team’s potential. On the other side, the Blue Jays also contributed two runs to
level the game 2-2 at the bottom of the first inning.
Encarnacion walked but Yunel Escobar posted a single run and Adam Lind moved to second base. The second run for the Blue Jays was taken by Jose Bautista when Eric Thames hit a sacrifice fly to right-field during the first inning. Second inning passed without
even a single run as the batters struggled with their shots.
The Blue Jays got a 6-2 lead in the third inning by exploding four runs. Encarnacion hit a one-run homer (420 feet) to left-centre and Thames struck a solo homer (400 feet) towards right-field. The third and fourth run was taken by Aaron Hill and Travis
Snider when J.P. Arencibia doubled to left-field.
During the fourth inning, Mark Reynolds walked but Matt Wieters flied out to left-field, Nolan Reimold struck-out swinging and Derrek Lee flied out to centre-field. The Blue Jays’ starter, Carlos Villanueva was expensive with his pitching as he threw five
innings with an ERA of 3.60 and gave up four runs and six hits with four earned runs. He permitted two walks including two homers and had just one strike-out on his 84 pitches.
In the fifth inning, the Orioles again scored a couple of runs to reduce their lead but the Blue Jays posted two runs equally to increase their lead 8-4. Robert Andino and Hardy both added two runs collectively for the Orioles when Jones drove a single-run
shot towards centre-field.
Blue Jays’ left-fielder Snider was saved to reach towards second base on the error of the Orioles’ third baseman Reynolds and Encarnacion scored a single run. The second run was taken by Snider when Escobar singled to shallow left-field.
In the ninth inning, Hardy homered (362 feet) towards left-field to cut Orioles’ deficit 8-5. However, the Blue Jays sealed the three-game series 2-1 after winning a series decider.
