Edwin Iriawan to help coaches and players of Maharashtra Badminton Association
The head coach of Indian badminton team Edwin Iriawan from Indonesia will be holding a training camp in Maharashtra to equip their coaches and players with modern game techniques.
The Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA) requested national body to lend its foreign coach and Badminton Association of India (BAI) gave an affirmative response by allowing Edwin for this six-day camp which will be held in first week of May.
The president of MBA, Pradeep Gandhe gave a detailed briefing about the plan and commented that the two-day camps will be arranged in three cities Nagpur, Latur and Mumbai.
The opening day of training camp is dedicated to coaches while the second day will be reserved for domestic shuttlers.
Gandhe hopes that these camps will help local coaches and players to elevate their respective skills under supervision of national coach Edwin Iriawan.
He said, "The idea behind inviting Edwin is to help the coaches and budding players of Maharashtra. We are deliberately conducting the camps at three places so that maximum players and coaches can get the benefit."
The unprivileged shuttlers from Nagpur and Latur will for the first time get a chance to train under a foreign coach. BAI has permitted Edwin to spend six days in three different cities of Maharashtra right after the India Open which is ending on April 29.
Pradeep Gandhe, who also holds the vice-president chair in BAI, stated that these camps will be held in the first week of May however final dates will be announced after planning out all the traveling and training schedules.
He expressed his gratitude to Edwin for accepting their invitation.
Gandhe said, "The dates and venues will be finalized later. Which city will hold the camp first will be decided after chalking out his travel plans. We approached Edwin and we are thrilled when he too was readily accepted our invitation."
Former Indian shuttler, Pradeep Gandhe doubled the joy by announcing that this counseling will be free of cost and any badminton lover can join these camps in any one of three announced cities in Maharashtra.
These training camps will be a joint venture of MBA and respective district associations as all the expenses will be distributed equally.
