Edy Reja believes Lazio deserved a point against Sporting Lisbon and blasts his player’s mentality
Lazio manager, Edy Reja, believes that his team could have won against Sporting Lisbon but their poor mentality denied them the win.
The Biancazzurri suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Portuguese side in a group stage game of UEFA Europa League at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Thursday, September 29th, 2011. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 are still to register their first
win of the competition and find themselves on the third spot of Group D.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager added that his team deserved at least one point from the game but his side’s poor mental approach prevented it from happening. The tactician is ruing the missed chances and his team’s inability to take
advantage of the opposition’s red card.
Reja also finds his team hard done by some refereeing decisions and believes they could have had a penalty in the latter stages of the second half.
While talking to the reporters, Reja said, "We had a very good start, we created many chances with our attacks. We wasted many chances, there was even a clear penalty in the closing stages which the referee did not signal. We at
least deserved a draw for what was seen on the pitch."
The 65-year-old also blasted his team for showing a poor character on the field and lacking the winning mentality. The manager also revealed that the dressing room atmosphere is in bad spirits after the game.
"Our players did not believe they could win, the atmosphere in the dressing room was completely dispirited.”

and the attitude of the fans towards him.
The Biancocelesti have had a miserable start to their 2011/12 Serie A season too and have picked up only one win from their opening four league games thus far. Lazio are currently placed 10th on the league table and
will face Fiorentina in their next game on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011.
