The Biancocelesti manager insists that after his occasional arguments with the President, a stronger bond of friendship can be formed.
Edy Reja insists that Lazio should forget what happened in the recent past, and look to the future. He relented that the fall out with the club President was not the first of his career, and it is time for the club to focus on the challenges ahead rather
than turmoils of the past.
“I often argue with Presidents.” said the Biancocelesti boss.
The tactician offered his resignation as the manager of the club after his team suffered consecutive defeats at the hands of Palermo and Atletico Madrid. However, he stayed to manage his team for the Fiorentina clash, which the Biancocelesti won 1-0. Now,
the manager has termed his resignation as another of his disagreements with the club president and suggests everything is back to normal.
“The topic of my future is closed. Let’s bury the hatchet and move on.”
He insisted that such arguments are common in football and the talks could eventually lead to a stronger relationship.
“I often argue with Presidents, but after such arguments a stronger bond of friendship can be formed.”
Much speculation emerged after the coach had announced his resignation with many suggesting that Gianfranco Zola will be the one replacing him at the Biancocelesti. Having talked about his future, the Lazio boss also lent a few words about Zola, who he insisted
remains a good friend of him.
“Zola? We know each other, we talk in the week, and I’d like to see him get a job in the Italian championship and with a big team – maybe even with Lazio one day.”
Zola, after being sacked by West Ham United at the end of 2010 season, was also linked with a move to Inter Milan after Gian Piero Gasperini's was fired by the Nerazzurri earlier this season. Claudio Ranieri ended up occupying that position leaving the Italian
legend and former Chelsea player still on the lookout for a club to manage.
