Edy Reja delighted with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775’s Europa League result against Rabotnicki
Lazio manager, Edy Reja, is delighted with his team’s efforts in their 6-0 win over Macedonian side, Rabotnicki, in the first leg of the preliminary round of UEFA Europa League.
Djibril Cisse bagged a brace, while other new signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 also got himself on the score-sheet as the Biancocelesti cruised to a comfortable win at the Stadio Olimpico Rome. Last year’s top goal-scorer for the club,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stefano-Mauri-c34055 scored just before the break.
Reja insists that his team completely dominated the opposition and had them on the back foot throughout the game. The 65-year-old insisted that he urged his team-mates before the match to not to take the opposition lightly and
must respect them. Reja is delighted with the massive result and believes that insists that his team will not relax in the second leg and will go for the kill.
“You have to congratulate Lazio for the mentality they showed and for not risking anything at the back. We dominated and, with all due respect to our opponents, we were clearly superior to them. I asked the boys to not relax, to
not get caught out on the counter-attack and to win with a big scoreline.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 boss believes that this result has set the tone for his team to build on for the rest of the season. He added that this game was very important in terms of match fitness ahead of the season and with sterner tests
awaiting his side in the future.
“We’ll await more difficult tests. It’s essential that we find balance, power and a faith in our ability.”
Reja is all praise for his new strike partnership of Klose and Cisse and is confident that they will provide him with a solution of last year’s problems. Lazio struggled to score goals towards the end of the 2010/11 campaign, which
cost his team a UEFA Champions League place for the upcoming season.
The second leg of the clash will be played at the Phillip II Arena on August 25, 2011.
