Lazio manager, Edy Reja, is pleased with the 3-2 win over Hellas Verona in the last 16 round of the Coppa Italian at Stadio Olimpico Rome on Tuesday January 10, 2012.
The Biancazzurri squandered a two-goal cushion in the second-half, before Hernanes sealed the winner in the last minute. Lazio booked a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Biancocelesti have lost their plot of late, and have suffered two consecutive defeats in the league. They suffered a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Siena recently. Reja is delighted to see his team get back to winning ways, and
believes that it was a really important win. The veteran tactician admitted that it was a hard fought win, as the opposition possessed great physical and technical abilities.
However, the tactician admitted that his team made a lot of mistakes during the game, and they cannot afford to repeat them in their next matches.
While talking to the reporters, Reja added,
"This was a very important victory because we worked harder than expected against Verona, who are a good side, both physically and technically. We made mistakes which we cannot repeat, allowing Verona to level the game.
The 66-year-old believes that Hernanes’ winner in the dying minutes of match will certainly lift the spirits in the camp, and will give the team a direction to move forward.
"The victory in the last minute will give us serenity and confidence for the future. In the first half and in the last minutes our players gave their all, although they are not in the best physical and mental conditions." Added

Reja’s recent league form has seen them drop to the 4th spot in the league table, and see themselves seven points behind leaders, A.C Milan. The capital club will take on the winner of A.C Milan vs. Novara game in the
quarter-finals.
They will host Lazio in their next league game on Sunday, January 15th, 2012.
