Edy Reja ruing his team’s poor finishing but hoping for improvement in the next game: Serie A news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 manager, Edy Reja, believes that his team’s poor finishing prevented them from winning against Catania recently.
The Biancazzurri were held to a 1-1 draw by Vincenzo Montella’s men in a Serie A encounter at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. A win in the game would have taken Lazio on top of the league table but they
are now sitting on the third spot.
Reja is disgusted with his team’s finishing and expected a better performance from them in front of the goal. He added that the team created a host of scoring opportunities but the finishing really let them down.
“It is a real shame because we started very well, our opponents had more than a few problems in trying to contain us. Suffice to say in the first half we created five clear-cut chances but we scored only one.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 boss believes that his team should have scored at least two goals in the first half given the number of opportunities they created. However, the manager is satisfied with the overall performances of his team and
insists that they have done extremely well in their recent games.
“Obviously you see that in front of goal we are a little anxious and perhaps we are too apprehensive. I regret this because for the number of chances created we deserved to close the first half with at least two goals.”
“If this had happened then we would be talking about an entirely different game, but I don't think we did so bad, I'm sure.”
The 66-year-old is hopeful that the team will improve their finishing because they are really motivated to perform well and have shown great character throughout the season. He added that Catania were lucky to draw the game as
their only shot on target found the back of the net.
The veteran tactician is looking forward to the Cagliari game and is hopeful that the team will keep improving in the future games.
The Biancazzurri will take on Massimo Ficcadenti’s men in their next game at the Stadio Sant’Elia on Sunday, October 30, 2011
