The former Pro Gorizia head coach spoke about his strained relationship with the Lazio board during the course of last season and gave his verdict on Mauro Zarate.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager has been a miracle worker for clubs, and his biggest accomplishment would have to be his performances for the Partenopei outfit, where he managed to perform a miracle as he guided the Neapolitan outfit
from Serie C to Serie B and then to the top flight of Italian football, Serie A.
What was most impressive about his feat was that these achievements came in succession. Midway into season for the newly promoted Serie A outfit, Reja severed ties with the San Paolo outfit, following disagreements with the board.
His next Serie A adventure saw him land at Lazio where the Italian proved his mettle once again. In his last campaign with the Biancazzurri, Reja was about to pull off another miracle by qualifying for the Champions League. Reja
had been given a tough time following Igli Tare’s failed promise to bring in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Keisuke-Honda-c20516 from CSKA Moscow.
Reja had a row with the club management over the issue, as his request was not given due diligence. He gave his resignation on two occasions due to his frustration of having an ill equipped squad to compete in the Europa League
and the Serie A.
Despite his squad constraints, he was able to lead the Biancazzurri to a battle for the last Champions League spot until the last weeks of the Serie A campaign. However, the former Pescara manager quit as the Biancocelesti manager
following the campaign, despite pleas from Claudio Lotito, Lazio President, for the head coach to stay.
Quizzed about his rapport with the President he went on to state:
"They are both loyal people and I have a good relationship with Lotito. There is regret over having missed out on the Champions League, but the group did very well and has grown a lot. I gave so much and I feel that I did my duty."
When asked about the return of Mauro Zarate into the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 setup and the help he might be to the new coach he went on to state:
"I love him as a player. I gave Mauro many opportunities during my reign. However, he must change some of his behaviour. I did not like his behaviour in that final year at Lazio."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vladimir-c36322 Petkovic succeeded Edy Reja as the head coach of the Biancazzurri.
