The Biancocelesti manager distressed with injury concerns with Hernanes latest to join the treatment table; the tactician confident of claiming the final Champions League spot
Lazio manager, Edy Reja, fears that injury worries might halt his team’s chances of claiming the final UEFA Champions League spot.
The Biancazzurri are currently holding the third spot, and have a three-point lead over fourth-placed Udinese. However, three of their main attacking players have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hernanes-c16150 is the latest player to join the duo on the sidelines. Reja is worried by the injury situation, and believes that it will hurt his team a
lot.
The manager insisted that at this stage of the season, he wanted some of his injured players to return, but instead he has lost few of his key personnel. The Biancazzurri boss rued his team’s luck with injuries throughout the season,
and insists that Lazio could have sealed the final Champions League spot by now, had it not been for the injury woes.
While talking to the reporters ahead of the match, Reja enthused:
“At the moment things are not very good, because instead of retrieving players so as to rotate the squad, we are losing them. But, we are still third in the standings and will do our utmost to finish there at the end of the season.
In a scale of one to 10, the number of accidents we have suffered must be at 10. With an entire squad available we would already have qualified for the Champions League by now.”
“Obviously it is not verifiable data, but we all know this would have been the case. That’s not to say that we have weaknesses in the squad.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 will travel to relegation struck Novara for their rescheduled game of week 32, and Reja is confident of registering the important three points. The game will be played on Wednesday, 25 April 2012 at Stadio Silvio Piola. With
only five matches left to play in the season, the battle for third-place is expected to go down to the wire.
