Eei h*i, Pei Tty surge into quarter-finals of Australian Open GP Gold 2012
The prime female duo of Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty continued their successful run and ensured their presence in the quarter-finals of the Yonex Australian Open GP Gold on April 5, 2012.
Malaysian Women’s Doubles team of Eei h*i-Pei Tty hunted down their opponents Suci Rizky Andini-Della Destiara Haris from Indonesia with an impressive margin of 19-21, 21-13 and 21-19.
The real challenge awaits them in the quarter-finals where they will have to surpass the World Number nine Taipei pair Wen Hsing-Yu Chin.
Earlier, in their pre quarter-final tussle the long serving female shuttler Eei h*i was bit cautious before playing against the Indonesian couple of Suci Rizky-Della Destiara.
She said, “We have not played against the Indonesians but they looked quite sharp in their first round win. It is important for Pei Tty and I to stay focused as the match could go either way.”
However, the World Number 15 duo proved their mettle later in the 55-minute tussle by winning the battle with a decisive 2-1 match score.
Indonesian ladies took a great start and clinched the first match point straight away. The duo Suci Rizky-Della Destiara forged a fruitful chemistry against their higher ranked rivals.
Though, both teams remained close at the scoreboard but Suci and Della bagged the opening game with a tight but decisive score of 21-19.
This first set loss did not harm the Malaysians much as they stormed back in very next game and blew away their opponents with a significant margin of 21-13 in score log.
The third set was the best part of the match as both teams snapped each other’s heels throughout the decider.
None of them allowed the opponent to establish unassailable lead until the game point situation but the Doubles experts Eei h*i and Pei Tty emerged as victors after scoreboard flashed the 21-19 score in their favour.
This 2-1 win took them into top eight teams of the Australian open.
The last year’s runners-up couple Eei h*i-Pei Tty is determined to repeat the show by living up to their billing against the dangerous combination of Wen Hsing and Yu Chin in the quarter-finals of the event.
