Eei h*i, Pei Tty tread into second round of Yonex Australian Open GP Gold
The Women’s Doubles team of Malaysia Chin Eei h*i-Wong Pei Tty cleared the first hurdle in main draws and trod into the second round of Yonex Australian Open GP Gold on April 4, 2012.
The victorious female duo stamped their rivals Yixin Bao-Yuting Deng in an epic tussle which got resolved with final figures of 16-21, 21-16 and 21-12 after three exhausting sets.
Both couples snapped each other’s heels and kept the audience enthralled for 52 minutes.
Now the Malaysian ladies are scheduled to meet the Indonesian rivals Suci Rizky Andini-Della Destiara Haris in second round and win will take them into the quarter-finals of the event.
In their opening match the partnership of Eei h*i and Pei Tty took some time to revive the old chemistry which cost them the first match point.
The doubles expert Yixin Bao, who was World Number 16 with her partner Qianxin Zhong, forged a good chemistry with new partner Yuting Deng and stunned their higher ranked opponents.
Both pairs did not allow each other to establish a comfortable lead and stay close at the scoreboard in first part of the set.
Chinese duo accelerated their pace after one-minute break and clinched some quick points which played crucial role in their first match point win with the decisive margin of 21-16.
World Number 15 duo Eei h*i-Pei Tty did not lose their nerves and found their lost form to storm back into the match. This time they played attacking badminton and Chinese defence collapsed against their intensive invasion.
Malaysian ladies pushed their rivals to the back-foot and levelled the lead by scoring a significant margin of 21-16 in their favour.
The decider turned consequential with 1-1 match score position and both teams entered in court with great confidence which they earned through first two games.
The first half of the set kept swinging between the two contenders but the Malaysian couple Eei h*i- Pei Tty managed to strike the right balance in later part of the set.
They sealed the 2-1 victory with a distinctive margin of 21-12 in the end.
The tide of luck has taken them into the pre quarter-finals where they will lock horns with Suci Rizky-Della Destiara to secure a spot in the quarter-finals of Australian Open 2012.
