Eei h*i aims high in Australian Open to ensure Olympic ticket – Badminton News
The Women’s doubles expert of Malaysia, Chin Eei h*i is aiming high when she teams up with Wong Pei Tty in Yonex Australian Open to ensure their spot in 2012 London Olympics.
The Australian Open is set to be staged in Sydney from April 3, 2012.
The event is going to be one of the last tournaments before the Olympic qualification race comes to an end in May so every prime shuttler from badminton fraternity will be looking to pocket some valuable ranking points.
Malaysian female duo Eei h*i-Pei Tty is also pumped up to relish the opportunity as only top 16 teams will have the honour to be in the London Olympics and the duo is fighting to maintain their 15th spot in the world rankings.
The seasoned member of the duo, Eei h*i is fully aware of the fact that any blunder in Australian Open will result in their further downfall in rankings which ultimately will bury their hopes for the London games.
She said, “We reached the final of the Australian Open last year and we need to repeat the feat in order to maintain our ranking. Anything below a runners-up spot will put us in a risky situation.”
The twosome will be looking to put in a good performance against the top ranked pairs like Miyuki Maeda-Satoko Suetsuna and Shizuka Matsuo-Mami Naito from Japan, the South Korean duo Jung Kyung Eun-Kim Ha Na and the female couple Meiliana Jauhari-Liliyana
Natsir from Indonesia.
The long serving shuttlers of Malaysia, Eei h*i and Pei Tty are not blessed with a dream draw as they will have to surpass the newly formed Chinese pair Bao Yixin-Deng Yuting in the first round match of the event.
However, Eei h*i is confident to rise on the occasion by joining hands with her partner Pei Tty in this Grand Prix Gold event.
She said, “The draw has not spared us the tough matches. Fortunately, Pei Tty and I are in good condition and hopefully, we can go far in this tournament to strengthen our bid to win a berth in the Olympics.”
The other Malaysian contenders in the Women’s doubles event will be Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei and the duo Goh Liu Ying-Lim Yin Loo.
Meanwhile, the World Number 28 shuttler Daren Liew, Chong Wei Feng will be strong competitors in the Men’s singles event and the experienced couples Hoon Thien How-Teo Kok Siang, Goh V. Shem-Lim Khim Wah will represent the country in the Men’s doubles event
of Australian Open.
