Eeny Mac keen to revive the June-July streak
Much to the surprise of many sport fans, Eeny Mac accomplished three consecutive triumphs during June-July 2012. That was the first time he won since debuting in May 2009. For one reason or the other, the Neville Bycroft trained chestnut gelding could not
retain that momentum and tumbled in the two subsequent starts.
As the five-year-old veteran horse is lined-up against 16 competitors to run the Racing UK On Channel 432 Apprentice Handicap at Redcar, he wants to revive his success streak by winning this high-profile race.
Under the new rider, Amy Ryan, the Irish gelding is likely to produce an electric pace to execute well on the good to firm course of 7 furlongs. Interestingly, two of his total three victories have come over such sort of race conditions. Thus, he will feel
quite comfortable today.
Eeny Mac broke his maiden with the title of Queen's Jubilee Handicap, held on June 2. He went on to finish first nicely in the Ardent Financial Planning Handicap on June 26.
These two classic conquests were followed by the title of Mr Rajaraman Handicap that was run on July 17. All the three big contests went down at Beverley.
That was marvellous indeed. Those, who watched the gelding running and winning, have no doubt to believe that the maverick sprinter will repeat the same in today’s marathon.
However, Steel Stockholder can create some trouble for Eeny Mac. The Mel Brittain trained bay gelding gained great momentum by winning the Alan Shearer Foundation Supporting CHUF "Hands And Heels" Apprentice Series Handicap at Newcastle during the last month.
The 42-race experienced horse finished 4th in his last outing entitled as Adorn Hats Handicap. Overall, he has 4 conquests to his name. He last faced such sort of surface in September 2011, thus, he will take some time to adjust himself to the
ground.
The clash will be rip-roaring, but success is destined to go to Eeny Mac. The race is likely to be a good piece of entertainment for the spectators. Let us be a part of this party. Good luck to all the contestants.
