Effect help???

i have hyper hammerhead it's effect says that when it attack a monster, unless it's distroyed, it gets sent to owner's hand. my bro says that when the monster is distroyed then i can send it to the hand i say it's wrong i can send any monster it attacks to his hand i know he's wrong but he's stuborn who's right?

hyper hammerhead's effect does state that a monster it battless if returned to the owner's hand. This effect works if it is attacking or is being attacked. If hyper hammerhead destroys a monster it is sent to the graveyard. If a monster attacks hyper hammerhead and destroys it, the attacking monster is still returned to the hand and hyper hammerhead sent to the graveyard.
