  1. High Crime rates, the eventual breakdown of civilization, the whole world willl look like Somalia

It seems that most of the people that already answered this question stated sociological effects, such as crime and poverty, not really environmental effects.  The biggest problem with over population is resource based.  More people means a need for more energy, a need for more energy, presently, means more pollution.  People pollute and more of them just means more pollution, of every kind, air, land, water, noise, light, all are directly related to population.

  3. food shortage, poverty, high death, umemployment, national insecurity etc

  4. Hmmm it exhausts the resources the environment offers more quickly, affects wildlife by making room for settlements etc. and takes a long time for it to be replenished

  5. Just pay a visit to India or thailand and you would have a good indication of the effect of overpopulation : poverty abound and death and disease.
