  1. turn off the tv, video games, etc. these things teach a child to focus straight ahead and block out what is going on around them. from there, just go out and explore the world we live in. smell, touch, taste, listen, use all of your senses. use terms like 'over there' and 'far away' or 'at an angle' as you tilt your head to look at the object. play 'I Spy' games for things like colors, cars vs. trucks (on a road trip), big vs. little, etc. 'I Hear a ...' (bird)(car)(etc) and have the child point to what you are hearing. take turns playing the games. have fun!
