Question:

Effectiveness of Lexapro & Lamictal?

Until recently I was taking 15 mgs of Lexapro a day for depression and anxiety. However, my psychiatrist recently started me on Lamictal as a mood stabilizer and wants to taper me off of the Lexapro. I'm currently taking 5mgs of Lexapro daily and 150 mgs of Lamictal daily. Eventually I'll be at the "maintenance" dose of Lamictal (200 mgs) a day.

I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there who takes these two drugs concurrently and what their experiences have been. I'd love to be off of the Lexapro entirely but my depression and anxiety problems have me concerned that I may still need it. Does anyone else have insights or similar experiences with these two medications? I'd love to know about your experiences in order to have more perspective. Thanks!
