Effects of benadryl on thyroid?

can taking large ammounts of benadryl cause hypothyroidism, or otherwise effect the thyroid?

if you are taking large amounts of benedryl, you have bigger problems than hypothyroid.  go get counseling!  why do you put a large amount of downer in your system?

not sure about causing it but if you already have it you should discuss taking it with your doctor.

if you are on thyroid medication, anything with a decongestant in it can cause heart palpitations.  only straight antihistamines are ok, and you should check with the pharmacist. drinking benadryl in large amounts, besides being unhealthy, is not a cause of hypothyroidism.
