  1. Yes, we're seeing increased prices of corn at the moment.  However, I don't think biofuels will be used much more than they currently are.  There are better options (hybrid, electric) which don't require us to devote our agricultural land to producing transportation fuel.

  2. Byderule is the most up to speed person on this issue, but apparently some countries have policies that would have negative effects.  It reminds me of the Oil Policies of the 50's and 60's we are paying so dearly for today.

  3. There are positive and negative effects of bio-fuels. The positive effects are that bio-fuel vehicles get better gas mileage, therefore, emit less greenhouse gases. There are also negative effects of bio-fuel. Ethanol (a bio-fuel) requires a lot of fertilization which contains nitrogen. During runoff, the nitrogen will eventually flow into an area of water. When it does, it contaminates it, and algae form and suck up the oxygen in the water. This is bad news for marine life. This why I am against the use of ethanol. Hybrids are the way to go!

  4. intreging if you are worried about it PLANT A GARDEN grow your own corn

  5. No, I do not.  Believe it or not, people can and do actually eat other things than just corn all the time.  I haven't met a human being yet who eats 100% corn all the time.  Brazil has been using ethanol made from sugarcane for 25 years and sugar is in no short supply and no one has starved yet in a quarter of a century as a result!  You can still buy candy bars and sugar at the store.  And farmers simply grow more to meet the demand, keeping the price down. Common sense is the only thing in short supply on this issue.

  6. No, because you can make ethanol out of grasses, corn stocks, and other vegetation. not just corn or food stuff directly used by cattle or humans.

  7. it will not cut the food supply.. it depends to the farmers..  for example, if more demands in corn, they should plant more corns.. not only corn the source of bio fuel.. it can be coconut also.
