  1. over the last century or so mankind has managed to increase the carbon content of the planets atmosphere from 0.0003% to 0.0004% (source National Geographic  Magazine) roughly the equivelent of a f**t in a cathedral. The planets climate is just about the only part of the  ecological structure that man hasnt screwed up. A lot of our energy and waste problems would be solved overnight if we burned waste in power plants and turned it into electricity

  2. One effect that's already is it no longer snows on London in the winter time.

I believe in the 1800's London usually got 10 - 15 inches of snow per winter. By the 1960's it drop to less than five inches. And now for the twenty years London hasn't received more than an inch of snow.

There has also been a big up tick in summer storms with gale and hurricane force winds.

  3. Environmental alarmists have a really bad track record for predicting the future.

Global temperatures could go up or down in the next 20 years.  If they goes up, the alarmists will say we told you so.  If they go down the alarmists will claim they are responsible for reversing climate change.

  4. Its all part of a natural cycle, but there is still no excuse for blatent waste of energy, we should still tighten our belts wherever we can

  5. well you'll be able to farm your lands again up in the north and vinards will florish. Great wealth and riches because the land bears bountiful produce!

  6. The people who promote global warming are often the same people who have positioned themselves to profit from it. So don't let them pull you in too.

  7. I saw a white man in Hammersmith Palais!

  8. rise in temperature

  9. None.  I have lived for over 72 years and these things go in cycles. I have seen three feet/four feet of snow in the winter followed by hot summers.I have lived through droughts and floods. So what is new.?

  10. Summers are becoming hotter, winters we don't get snow any more, the extreme changes in weather.

  11. LOL! @ global warming

  12. Lies, lies and more lies.

    Scare tactics by the government.

Global warming no longer occurs, thats why they had to start calling it "climate change".

  13. I have lived here for the last 16 years and I am still waiting to see anything change other than the weather!

Last spring, we had a couple of warmer than normal days and the media started promoting the myth of 'Global Warming', with the prediction that it was going to be the hottest summer on record.

A few days later, the clouds burst open in some parts of the country and caused massive flooding.

After that it rained most days during the rest of the summer.

The fact that the amount of rainfall which caused the flooding had not broken the records was largely ignored, it did cause much more financial damage than in the past for a number of reasons.

In the past people did not have the amenities like carpeting or electronic equipment which could be damaged by water.

When they got a flood, it was a matter of simply brushing out the house off the slate or quarry tile floors.

What is causing more damage, and wider destruction when heavy rainfall occurs can be blamed on the way we live.

Not because of so-called 'Global Warming', but because of the way that new developmental expansion is increasing.

Every house built is an area of land which can no longer absorb rainfall since the land that it is built upon, is no longer able to absorb the water.

If you look at the fact that every road surface or parking lot built is even more area that can no longer absorb any rainfall.

This water has got to go somewhere!

Add to this that more people are building on flood plains which should be expected to flood every 50 years or so, you have a recipe for disaster which should be expected to occur once or twice in a lifetime.

I do have to laugh at the extreme waste of money and resources that are being used for flood defenses since it may help protect one area temporarily, it causes more damage to other areas which would have never had a problem in the first place!

These are some things which I feel are extremely pathetic and sad!

  14. Hmmm... had any floods there in the past few years?

Recent floods caused up to £3 billion worth of damage and parts of Gloucestershire came within minutes of the biggest peacetime evacuation Britain

The Association of British Insurers is threatneing to stop providing flood insurance to UK householders unless the government does more flood protection work (see http://www.abi.org.uk/Display/Display_Po...

They say "Climate change will increase winter rainfall, the frequency of heavy rainfall, and sea levels and storm surge heights. With no change in Government policies or spending, climate change could increase the number of properties at risk of flooding to 3.5 million."

The government agrees - the minister for climate change recently said "a second Thames barrier, [will be] potentially required within 25 years" as the existing barrier "may not be able to cope with rising tides by 2030".

And this is just one effect (flooding)...!
