For homework i have to do a public leaflet about global warming.I would like lots of facts about global warming, like the effects of it (eg ice melting)how we could stop it eg recycling, also if you know any websites about it that would be great!

thanx for your answers

  1. I work at the University of Kansas at a research center that deals a lot with global warming (Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets, CReSIS for short). You can check out our website for more information:  www.cresis.ku.edu.   We work with the scientists in determining the effects of climate change, specifically by studying the melting of glaciers and ice sheets.  I can provide you with a powerpoint presentation that we often use to describe a lot of the science of global warming.  Another good resource is the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth".

  2. the sun is melting the polar caps, and then the sunlight is absorbed by the ocean more because the ice is like a mirror that reflects heat and light back out to space, the sea level would then rise and the oceans temp would change, this would then effect the ocean currents which would then effect the gulf stream (wind currents) if this happend western europe could be thrown into another ice age, the US plaines could become a desert and many places such as miami, new york, bangledesh, etc, would be flooded, dry areas would be dryer because of increased evaporation which would make wet areas wetter becuase of the extra mostiture in the air

this is just a big cause and effect thing and can branch out into numerous ways

there are so many causes and effects just search theses websites if you need actually resources for a bibliography or something

  3. it increases temperature,

it might make the glaciers melt and

    flood the earth,

    and its getting polar bears

    near extinction.

we can try to prevent it by using less ovens && air conditioners

because they release uv rays that releases into the atmosphere

    and destroys the ozone,

and we can always STOP polluting and actually

pick up litter on the ground.

  4. Effects:

-polar bears morph into yetis which are approximately 8.345 feet tall with crimson navy hair.

-lions' manes begin to pile up on the heads in the style of a really tall Baroque wig. The mane turns white.

You'll have to research the rest on your own.

  5. Okay, global warming is caused by the ozone layer, which ironically is our protector. Harmful UV rays are carried along with the sun's rays, and the ozone layer acts as a sort of filter for them. However, the sunlight that enters our atmosphere bounces and reflects off the ground and the clouds, but cannot leave because of the ozone layer. This process is called the GREENHOUSE EFFECT. The trapped sunlight radiates more and more heat, warming the overall global temperatures.

Global warming does a lot more than destroy glaciers and kill polar bears. It raises sea and ocean levels, increases tropical diseases, alters agricultural patterns and causes huge economic impact. Glaciar receding and Arctic shrinkage are the most heard-of effects, but only because they are the most noticeable. With the oceans, global warming raises sea level and temperature, increasing floods and harming sea life, whether through death or odd migrational patterns. It also reduces the amount of pH, or acidity, in seawater in a process called acidification. With the weather, global warming has increased the amount of "extreme weather" and evaporation, as well as destabilized many local climates. Global warming also has had some "positive feedback" or effects which further feed global warming. These include methane release, forest fires, and the retreat of sea ice.

    Hope this helped!

  6. sure, global warming is caused by increased solar activity.  A public leaflet based in fact would include the NASA research and article attached.

But, since your teacher is probably a brain-dead drone beating the "man is evil" global warming drum, and probably thinks Al "i invented the internet" Gore would never lie for political or personal gain.... I suggest this.

Your leaflet should say that man produces greenhouse gases all day long by breathing.

The leaflet should say: "You Carbon Hogs!"  "you have been converting wonderful oxygen molecules into evil and dangerous carbon dioxide molecules your entire life."  Then, it should suggest that everyone take fewer breaths per minute to save the planet.  If everyone would just breath only 3 times per 60 seconds, we could drastically reduce human carbon dioxide creation.  Really, the leaflet should suggest we pass a law... "for the kids".... to make it illegal to breath more than 3 times in any 60 second period.

And running... that HAS to stop.  There will be no exercise that increases respiration.  Period.  We should probably create a new police force to monitor people's breathing, increase the number of jails 100 fold, and implant respiration detectors on all humans, which the government will monitor through rfid technology.

  7. the animals! it breaks my heart about them..

they suffer from this, and species are dieing off.

I wish I could give you more information on this but, i can't really think of a lot off hand.

the eleventh hour was good.. maybe a bit extreme though.

  8. well wind turbines thats renewable energy

energy saving light bulbs (look all these up)

turning plugs off when not using

cars which runs of sun flower seed (look it up)
