I am going on the Pill for the very first time. But I am scared of some of the effects it might have on me. I especially heard that there is the possibility of high blood pressure and gaining weight.

Is this true?

  1. i am in the same boat and plus they dont always work so i am just taking my time with this new relationship and seeing where it goes to

  2. the best thing to do is talk to your doctor as you can then get the best "pill" to suit you  as they also need to know some of your family history as to give you the best one .................... however you may need to try more than one and do go back if your getting problems ..................some are a mix of hormones some are just one some you need to take at a particular time  some you can have a 12 hour window  BUT if you miss one do make sure you use other  means to prevent pregnancy ..............same with some drugs   antibiotics    getting a bout of vomiting   or loose bowels

  3. Gaining weight can be an effect. Just depends on how your body reacts to the pill. The High Blood pressure I think is only an effect if it runs in your family. I've been on birth control for 7 years and high blood pressure has not been a problem for me. Just watch yourself and take care of yourself as you have before going on it and if you see changes that you feel are a threat talk to your doctor about it and see what they say
