Effernogue Clare runs to great finish in A2 race at Nottingham
A strong finish is as important as a strong start in the world of greyhound racing. Effernogue Clare had a strong start in the first of two 500m A2 races at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium,
helping her pull off a big win.
Starting from trap three, Effernogue Clare (4-1) went on to lead at the third bend, and that was enough to seal the victory for her. She completed the race with a time of 31.46. Second
place went to Sunshine Mike (6-1), who crowded first and second, losing 2¼ lengths in the process. He went on to finish in 31.64.
Dawsonnationwide, the 7-4 favourite, led second to third, but crowded third. As a result, he ended up in third place. His time of 31.70 placed him ¾ lengths behind the second-place finisher.
Clondoty Fred, the 9-2 long shot, finished in fourth place after crowding first and third. He was a head’s length behind Dawsonnationwide in 31.71.
Fabulous Future (4-1) claimed fifth place after crowding first, halfway, and third. He went on to finish in 31.72, which was a head behind fourth place. Last place went to Rivermist Wendy
(7-2) after she crowded first and third. She finished 2 lengths out of fifth place by posting a time of 31.88.
The second A2 race of the day saw Rock It Fornorma (7-2) rock and roll to a first-place finish. A bounding start from trap three was all he needed, as he always led the pack. He finished
the race in fine form with a time of 30.31. Skyline Bella, the 9-2 long shot, surprised everyone by finishing in the number two position. Despite a clear run, she lost 7¼ lengths, resulting in a 30.89 finish.
Westferry Ethan (4-1) took third place in 31.17 after a clear run. He was 3½ lengths out of second place. Finishing 1¼ lengths behind Westferry Ethan was Click Easy, the 9-4 favourite.
He crowded second to finish fourth in 31.27.
Laying claim on fifth place was Lord Mayo (7-2). He moved slowly away and crowded third, resulting in a loss of 2½ lengths and a time of 31.47. The sixth and final position went to Head
Iton Chick (7-2), who crowded third on the way to a 31.79 finish that was 4 lengths out of fifth place.
The greyhound races at Nottingham Greyhound Stadium are scheduled to resume on Friday, 12 November. The first race of the evening begins at 18:28.
