I have been off of Effexor (75 mg) for 3 weeks now. I am very emotional and have this buzzing, electric feeling in my head. I have read this is common. I just want to know from others' experience will this go away? It is really affecting my life. Thank you

  1. If you have come off this suddenly as I suspect then you have created this situation as these are the side effects when I forget my medication (Effexor), you should be under the guidance of your Dr when stopping medication but on the positive side thses symptoms should pass. You ideally should be weaned off medication like this over aperiod of time not cold turkey.

  2. This type of medication isnt supposed to be stopped cold turkey. You should be tappered off this medication.I assume your doctor didnt stop you cold turkey. If he did I would tapper yourself off of this. This medication takes 3 weeks to get into your system but longer to go away.

  3. I took cymbalta (effexors "sister drug") for 2 weeks and it made my life a living h**l. Withdrawl was worse than the side-effects, and those were the worst of any drug that I took. Took about 2 weeks to get rid of those for the most part, and probably another 2 weeks before I was back to what I was like before ever taking it.
