  1. The side effects of Effexor are awful.  He will need a doctor's help to come off Effexor.  Prozac is used to lessen the effects.  As he is coming off, the brain feels funny, kinda dizzy, kinda like your head on a roller coaster, but it's not.  When I was coming off Effexor, I didn't sleep for almost a week.  I had jumpy legs and couldn't lie down or sit still for any length of time.

Neurontin is a very strong nerve pill, often used to control seizures.  Again, you need to get him into see a doctor.

Be honest and don't let your son Bu11sh*t you.  Just say, I found these in your bag.  No, I don't believe you are holding them for a friend.  No, I refuse to argue with you.  We are going to the doctor now.  And just be matter of fact, no yelling, screaming *how could you*, no judging.  Treat this just like an accident, calm, cool and collected.  He will probably need talk therapy also, and maybe his own Rx of Prozac.

I'm a former Pharm tech and I haven't heard of these drugs being used in this combination at all.  But the side effects of coming off these drugs *would* be addicting.  Start asking around to all his friends' parents.  He probably got them from some friend's parent's medicine cabinet, and that parent needs to know what is going on also.  Also, let your school nurse and/or principal know.  Bringing this out into the open will show your son that  #1)  You care.  and #2) You care enough to be nosey.  And the no yelling and no judging will back that up.  Good luck!

  2. Effexor is an antidepressant/anti anxiety medication.  You DEFINITELY won't get a buzz from them.  I take it every day, never have noticed any side effects at all...

I'm not sure what neurotin is....but all you have to do is google either drug name and add "recreational use" to your search and you should be able to find the info you need

  3. Are you sure he didn't get them by prescription? Maybe he's depressed and he is hiding it from you. But yeah, that would a strange combination.

Possibly, he's using them for their side effects. Effexor gives aweful (by normal adult standards) side effects, especially if taken incorrectly. This medication is used for treating depression and is normally taken on a long-term basis. Most side effects manifest themselves when starting or finishing this medication. They may include dizziness, loss of appetite and other.

  4. effexor is for depression and neurontin is used for nerve pain.  neither of those would really give you a high, just a bit woozy if taken with alcohol.

  5. just b patient and caring with ur child. Dont jump to concussions, talk and talk with him.....  do plenty of hearing. U will know all abt how they reached his bag.....

  6. neurotin is gabapentin a drug that has anti-seizure, anti-anxiety and pain relieving properties it can be used recreationally but it has such a minimal effect that the DEA doesn't regulate its use

effexor is a anti-depressant more specifically a serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor it also has little to no recreational value

your son sounds like hes a little blue and got some anti depressant and anti-anxiety meds from a friend i would recommend taking him to a doc and seeing if he is clinically depressed

  7. they are basically both downers.  one numbs the emotions and the other numbs the brain.  been there, know that.
