Egalitarian and equality?

can anyone please tell me what is the difference between egalitarian and equality? does an egalitarian society imply equality but an equality society doesn't imply egality (the root word for egalitarian)?

  1. Here is my personal take on your question: egalitarian describes the dynamic of the society.  An egalitarian society places great value on treating its members equally.

    Equality is an abstract concept.  I cannot imagine an "equality society."  But a society that claims to believe in equality while practicing classism, racism, indifference toward its needy is not egalitarian.  I also insist that such a society is not even committed, at its core, to equality.
