Question:

Egg drop science experiment using a brown paper bag?

My son has an egg drop experiment in school this week. Parents are allowed to help with ideas and buy materials. We can buy any materials as long as they fit inside a brown paper lunch bag or around it. Any ideas on what we can buy to keep the egg from breaking when dropped from three floors up?

  1. Make a parachute out of a garbage bag and string/twine.  Get a sponge, wet it, cup it around an egg, and let it dry.  Once dry, it will retain it's shape to cup and protect the egg.

You can get an empty 16oz. soda bottle and use rubberbands to connect to the sponge and suspend the egg in the middle of the bottle.

Attach the "parachute" to the bottle, and let it fly.
