Egg protein and slow release question?

i just started working out and i read a book discussing protein shakes. it said that you should drink milk and egg protein shake in the morning and at night because it has a slow release. my question is i purchased a product called "100% egg protein", which i take with milk. is that the same as what the book was discussing, or is this another product? also, what exactly does slow release mean?

thanks and go easy on me! i just started.

  1. egg protein takes about 3-4 hours to digest but the best slow digesting protein is casein protein. It takes about 8 hours to digest.I used to take it at sleep time to keep me in anabolic state while or sleep.

  2. Ok, so to start:

When you work out your body directs blood to your muscles, so you can continue to workout. After you workout blood continues to flow to those muscles to repair and build up. The goal of slow release is to get a LOT of protein into the digestive tract so that while your blood is going more to the muscles rather than your digestive tract, It will have longer to absorb more protein, thus building more muscle...

In short - more slow delivery of protein to the muscles.

Egg protein is simply protein derived from eggs only. It does the job, but almost any protein powder can do that.

Personally I prefer soy protein, mainly because its goal isn't set to "pump you up!", but rather, give you proteins for those muscles as well as key nutrients that your body will thrive off of.

Experiment with diffrent kinds (try using one kind of powder monthly then switch), see what you like and what works.

However, whatever you do, don't buy powers with artificial preservatives or flavorings, get all natural, its just plain better working and better for you!!!

    Good luck!
