Question:

Eggs and how to cut them out of a diet?

i've been a vegetarian for... a long while now, since i was 14, with rare slips getting fewer and fewer throughout the years.

What i'm trying to do now, is to cut EGGS completely out of my diet - i feel like it would be a good change. I'm not giving milk up though.

My question is, how can i safely substitute them? I don't need hints on how to cook around them, i can manage that myself, what i need is to know what they bring into my organism and how i could get it from other resources.

I don't think i can give them up untill i figure out a decent replacement energy and consistency-wise. Can anyone spare a thought?

  1. eggs aren't good for you

    they give you nothing

you need nothing to replace them

  2. There's nothing in eggs that you can't obtain from plant foods... except of course cholesterol.

Just stop eating them - it's really that simple.  If you enjoy a wide-variety of plant foods, you'll be fine.

  3. Well, eggs are a good source of protein, so, you can always replace that with tofu, nuts, or something like that. But at the same time, they are a good thing to cut out becuase they are full of fat and cholesterol. Many times, tofu can be a replacement for eggs. You can make egg salad sandwiches out of tofu and vegan mayonaisse. Eggs do have good stuff for eyes, but you can always get it from other sources.

  4. the only things you are getting from eggs are fat, cholesterol, and protein...with protein being the egg white and the only really good thing for you. you can supplement the protein in eggs with nuts...peanut butter is the easiest and most common...peanut butter sandwiches, apples with peanut butter, etc. you really need protein so i would suggest really getting attached to something like peanut butter or maybe protein bars??? beans and spinach are good to use as well. as far as all of the other vitamins, etc, in eggs, as long as you eat a variety of veggies and fruits, you will be fine. tofu salad instead of egg salad might match the consistency and is good for you too. good luck! i hope this helped!
