Eggs hatching in Incubator...

We have chicken eggs in a incubator for the last 17 days, and one began to hatch about 6 hours ago and then another started now,what will happen to the chicks? Is it sometimes normal for them to start hatching early in an incubator and will they survive, Please answer ASAP thanks... x*x

  1. I'm sure they will be fine. The average incubation time is about 21 days, but if they hatch early and appear healthy I wouldn't worry. Just don't leave the chicks in the incubator very long. After they have completely dried off, move them to their cage with food, water, and a heat lamp.

  3. Well, it is likely that you had the temperature a bit high.

    Do you know what temperature they were at?

    They are supposed to be at 99'5F any higher then that could of caused the chicks to hatch early.

    They should be fine, although, it is quite early for them.

    They are not supposed to hatch until day 21.

    It is normal for chicks to hatch early if the temperature is either unsteady or a bit high. Or bolth!

    They should be ok.

    Once all have hatched and are drying off, I would get a vet appointment.

    To make sure that they are ok.

    Day 17 is way too eary for them to of hatched.

    I mean, you dont even stop turning the eggs till day 18!
