  1. Hi there,

    1.00 GBP = 10.4165 EGP

This is according to XE currency conversion this morning

The Egyptian currency is indeed Egyptian pounds, but what other answerers have not told you is that the Egyptian currency is called LE.....and in general you can assume that £1 =10LE

that way you will always be in control of what Egyptian traders are trying to charge you.

The markets are wonderful, and cheap prices. If you are going to be in Cairo then you should make sure to visit Khal-el-Khalili (I probably didn't spell it right) but every taxi driver in Cairo knows this market. It is the biggest market in the middle east, and full of anything and everything. Wonderful spices, aromas, perfumes, clothes, gifts, shoes, bags, blankets,  jewellery - its really amazing.

When you go to Egypt, exchange your money before you leave UK. The exchange rate hardly differs from Uk to Egypt, and you can get it commission free in most places here. Then you are sure of what you are getting and you are ready to go.

    Have a great time.

    :)

  2. 1 English pound = 10.3962 EGP

over there there is two kind of market, either self operated or franchise( big company )

you can always bargain where ever you go esp. for the touristic place as they will start selling the staff for you as much as they can but if u like something always check many places and always say even half price ( BE PATIENT ) you will get what you want way cheaper esp for gift and traditional clothes

    - make sure to change currency to EGP not GBP

    - if you dont like the deal go away no need to worry they will call u again with a better deal

    - for cab / taxi always ask the hotel reception you r in about est. fare and always agree with the driver about the price before you go but never never take a cab in front of a hotel entrance they will rip you off

    - for the big company shops its usually fixed price but never heart to check more store or ask for a deal or a discount

    - if you staying in a hotel or have a friend in egypt it always better to ask him where is the good staff and good  price market

    - but you will be lucky if you have egyptian friend going with you he will get the staff way cheaper for you ( its somehow cheap country too)

ALL IN ALL you will enjoy it over there its really nice, safe and friendly people

    good luck

Try this website and look not to get ripped off. I haven't used this one before as  i always change my money at the post office but for a rough guide it is good!

  4. egyptian pound. 1 GBP = 10.3962 EGP

  5. egyptian pound, been to thier markets a few times, its cheap if you are willing to haggle,if they say 10pounds you can normally get it for about 3pounds,but be prepared and stick to your guns dont give in,walk away and they will probably give in.

  6. dunno what the exchange rate is but in Egypt thet have pounds also, it is very cheap but dont accept anything from sellers as they will try and get money off you and also tewmp you with saying that something is 5 pounds.. but then add English pounds! it all good humored and friendly though! i love Egypt!

  7. our currency is the Egyptian pound, you'll find everything cheap here, just don't accept the first price that a seller tells you & try to negotiate him for a lower price, you'll LOVE Egypt more in the winter, unless you go for beaches in the north cost & the Red Sea they r so peaceful, i wish u have fun & u r always welcome

  8. My sister recently got only 9LE to the £ in the UK, where as you get about 10.5LE to the £ here (in Cairo).

  9. Today the Sterling pound makes 10.7 Egyptian pounds.

The Egyptian pound has 100 piasters.

The exchange rate in Egypt is better than elsewhere.
