Egypt defeats Bulgaria by 3-1 in Pool A match: FIVB Boys Youth Volleyball World Championship
In the final match of Pool A of the FIVB Boys Youth Volleyball World Championship taking place in Argentina , Egypt was able to defeat Bulgaria and earn themselves a win on August 21 in the city of Almirante Brown.
The first set of the match was won by the Bulgarians who had already qualified for the next round of the tournament but the Egyptians stepped up their game in the second set to earn an impressive win. By the time the third set started, the Bulgarians were
slack in their movements while the Egyptians had no trouble in bagging another win at a comfortable margin. The fourth set saw the Egyptians come out strong from the beginning and went all the way to win the match at the following final set scores: 22-25,
25-22, 25-16 and 25-17.
The coach of the Egyptian team Hossameldin Eissawy expressed himself in the following manner at the press conference after the match had reached its close: "My players did everything as I wanted to. I hope them to keep on like this, it was the first match
we won in Argentina."
On the other hand, the Bulgarian coach Miroslav Zhivkov shared his feelings by giving these statements: "I have to congratulate both Egyptian team and the coach. We were very concentrated and we did a great first set, so I decided to give the possibility
to the substitutes to show their abilities."
The Bulgarians were leading when the first technical time out was reached in the first set and they still had the lead at 16-12 when the second technical time out came. Egypt tried hard to overtake the Bulgarians but they did not let go of the advantage
till the set had the Bulgarian label on it at 25-22.
The Egyptians got the lead at8-5 in the second set but by the time the second technical time out was reached, Bulgaria was leading at 16-15. However, the Bulgarians fell to committing errors that enabled to Egyptians to move ahead and take the second set
25-22.
The third set saw the Egyptians come out strong from the start with a lead of 8-4 that went on till 19-5. After this point, the Bulgarians were left in the lurch as the Egyptians sprinted towards a win at 25-16. The fourth set started in favour of the Egyptians
too as the Bulgarians were not making any effort to get hold of the match. Therefore, Egypt won the fourth set at 25-17.
Two Egyptian players tallied the highest number of points in the entire match. These were Islam Abdelkader and Mohamed Massoud, each scoring 18 points. The top scorer on the Bulgarian side was Ivan Ivanov, who tallied 12 points for his team.
