Egypt sweeps China in a FIVB World Cup match - Volleyball news
The Chinese national men’s volleyball team played against the Egyptian squad today, November 23, at the FIVB World Cup that is currently taking place in Japan. The match between China and Egypt took place in Kagoshima ss the Egyptians were able to make a
clean sweep over their opponents and get themselves their first win in the championship.
Despite the fact that they lost the match, the first two sets of the game saw the Chinese compete with the Egyptians in an impressive manner. As a result, the starting two sets saw both teams stay almost neck to neck with each other all through. However,
in each of the two sets, the Egyptians were able to propel themselves forwards near the end and secure themselves a win. The loss of the first two sets got the Chinese to lose a bit of confidence in the third set and the fact was apparent in their performance
which enabled the Egyptians to win the frame by quite a margin and seal the deal on the match at the following final set scores: 25-20, 25-20 and 25-18.
The coach of the Egyptian team, Sherif El-Shemerly, expressed himself in the following way after the match had ended: “At first I would like to express my deep happiness that we won our first match. It is a very tough and high-level competition. For me as
head coach it’s the first win in the World Cup at height of international competition.”
On the other hand, the Chinese coach, Zhou Jianan, shared his views by making the following statements: “Today’s match was not a good one, and before the match we were nervous. Because yesterday was an evening match we didn’t have much time to prepare for
today. We still have to think about how to deal with such difficult situations.”
The player that was able to score the most points on the Egyptian side was Ahmed Abdelhay who registered a total of 19 points.
