Egypt to face Cameroon in final of 2011 Men’s African Nations championship - Volleyball
The Egyptians will be facing Cameroon in the final of the 2011 Men’s African Nations championship today, September 29, in Tangier, Morocco. The team that wins the match will be earning itself a ticket into the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup 2011.
The final match between the two teams is a much anticipated as the Egyptians are the defending champions while Cameroon is a formidable force in the continent. The Egyptians have already won the championship for a total of five times while the Cameroon squad
has secured the champion’s title twice.  
Apart from being the final of the championship, the match is important because it will give the winning team a shot at the London 2012 Olympics by sending them to the Olympic qualifiers also known as the FIVB World Cup.
Before the final match of the tournament takes place, the bronze medal match is scheduled between Algeria and Tunisia.
The 8-5 classification rounds of the tournament have already taken place with the matches being played on Wednesday. The fifth position was secured by Congo Brazzaville as they handed out a defeat to the Moroccans. By the time the day was out, the final
set scores stood at the following points: 25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-21. The key players on the Moroccan side were Ngampourou Ilouoni who was helped by Gildas Kouehassazo.
The seventh slot went to the South Africans as they were able to defeat the Botswana squad at the following final set scores: 25-23, 25-22, 21-25 and 26-24. The player that was most active on the South African side was Clinton Smith as he was able to score
some important points at crucial moments.   
After the 8-5 classification matches were held, the president of the FIVB, Jizhong Wei, addressed the media at the Menzah Hotel. The address was about the involvement and support of the FIVB in the African continent.
