Egypt wins over Tunisia by 3-1 in FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championships
The classification round of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Junior World Championships lasted from the July 30
to the 31 and Sunday saw Egypt and Tunisian compete against each other in Callao, Peru. The match between the two teams claimed four sets which ended in the first victory for the Egyptian team.
The Tunisian side was only able to get their hands on the first set of the match after which the Egyptians grabbed the next ones with determination and skill. The second set was fierce but the third and the fourth ones saw the Egyptians dominate all through.
The victory that the Egyptians earned for themselves was achieved at the following final set scores: 25-23, 25-27, 14-25 and 17-25.
The Egyptian coach, Mohamed Ahmed, made the following comments at the press conference: “Today we play for obtain a better place in this competition; we are really happy for this victory. In this championship we found a high level of competition and really
was very difficult to win. We try to train more for improve in the next competition”
On the other hand, the Tunisian head coach, Slim Ben Kaid, expressed himself in the following words: “We play two sets in good level, but after to lose the second set, my team couldn´t play in the same way. There was a new opportunity to play with the team
of Egypt, sometimes we win and sometimes they win. Today was a good opportunity for them. Congratulations”
The opening set of the game saw both the teams come out strong and battle to gain dominance on the courts. No team was letting the other get to far away and the scoring remained tight. However, it was the Tunisian side that was able to get a lead at 16-13
and was able to stick with it until the end at 25-23.
The loss of the first set sent a wakeup call to the Egyptians who started the second set of the game with determination and had the lead when the first technical time out was called. The Tunisian side did not give up the struggle and fought on but the Egyptians
prevailed in bagging the second set at 27-25.
Soaring high on the confidence obtained by winning their first set, the Egyptians performed skillfully in the third set that ended it in a win at 25-14. The Tunisian team seemed to have lost their stride as they came on to the courts in the fourth set of
the game. The Egyptians were unstoppable as they sealed the deal with a 25-17 win.
With their recent win, the Egyptians have been able to secure themselves the 15th position in the championship.
