I know i just posted a question about gelding my colt.. but i am VERY curious after the question "what is your opinion on Arabians"

So does anyone know of a site that tells the difference between these 3 arabs? i know that there are visual differences as well as bloodline differences.. but i don't know what they are....

I have tried googeling it, and i have tried looking on the arabian horse web site, and i even looked on wikipedia (which told me what an anglo arab is, but nothing other then that.)

Thanks!

  1. Basically has to do with bloodlines, history and the "pureness of the bloodline", and body shape; Egyptians are taller, lengthier; Polish are more rounded and short;the shagya is probably the rarest of the breed variations, bigger boned and less refined. the most common color of Shagya's is grey and they were developed around 200 years ago in Hungary area if I am correct. The strain or type refers to conformation, and more specifically to those conformational characteristics peculiar to the Arabian horse, apart from the Arabian characteristics that stand out, ie, dished head, tail carriage, type refers to the Arabian attributes that may be less or more extreme towards each type such as higher tail carriage than the other, more extreme dished face, shorter croup. The history and development of the Arabian breed is very mystical and quite interesting in itself.

  2. I do believe (i'd have to go look after a few hours of rest) that there are differences mentioned, but only breifly on wikipedia. . . let me look later.

BUT from my own personal experiances( i started riding and spent 4-6 years in arab showing/riding):

i love all arabs, the egyptians i have seen are the most breed like, when you see a pic of an arab on a general horse website, this one is going to be what they pick out, the ears and fact are more difined and eligant (cant spell, so shoot me). as well as most the body is the same way.

I've owned polish arabs, and i perfer their personality more just cause i've owned one. they i do believe have more rounded features instead of pointed, but again this is just from the differences i've seen tween my horse and the local egyptian arabs.

my one friend (cant get a hold of her atm) can tell you every single type of arab as well as their history and charatceristics (yeah i'm butchering the english lang tonight, but my headache tells me i dont care)

so that's what i know from my experinces, if you want more from me, drop me a line in a few days or whenever and i'll research it some more on my own. . . could be on my breed list somewhere.

    good luck
