I need to know if divorce is allowed in the Catholic Church in Egypt?

What if the couple live overseas? do they have to communicate to the Church in Egypt or how is the procedure?

If the divorce happened overseas will it be recognised in Egypt?

Thanks in advance

  1. An Egyptian Catholic is not allowed to get a divorce under any circumstance .

marriage is for life , as long as the spouse is alive , no divorce is allowed .

the only way out is that the person who wants to get the divorce changes his/her belief and becomes Protestant .

    a Protestant  can get a divorce .

if he gets it overseas , it would be easier .

if he wants to get married , it is easier to do so abroad in a civil office .

the Catholic / Orthodox Church in Egypt  will not recognise the divorce .

it might recognize the new marriage .

    you have to ask.

  2. No ,,divorce is  not recognized in the Catholic or  Orthodox churches of Egypt, but for two reasons, either cheating (one of the married couple cheat on the other-zenah-) or insanity (not curable, with one of the couple)... I always say to my Christian friends, that when life becomes as h**l  between the couple ,it is a sort of insanity,, ( the definition of insanity is not fixed by time,,it is changing day by day)..anyway,

overseas the divorce is just civil ,  is not recognized by the churches there either, so it will not  be recognized by the churches in Egypt as well...Still there is a way, which is a civil divorce, and that can be in Egypt as well, but not to be recognized as a religious one..

    --------

No they can not inside the church, but of course they can get married/have a  civil marriage,, if they are not religious,,

The difference between Christians and Muslims in Marriage, that Islamic marriage does not have to happen in a mosque, and it does not have any Religious ceremony,, 2 witnesses and acceptance, , the Christian one has to have religious ceremony,,, But at the end, if the couples are not religious, they can get married civil-wise, like they do in Europe and USA most of the time...

--Note according to a recent  (not very recent)agreement among the churches of Egypt, Now way that anyone can change his/her Christian sect in order to have a divorce, like Monnrise stated, they used to do so in Lebanon  or any other country abroad,,

  3. I'm not sure ya shalfat beah, but I think Zoser and moonrise are right ,

    miss u guys,

  4. The worldwide Catholic Church believes that God does not recognize civil divorces.

Jesus said, "Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate." (Mark 10:9)

However there may be hope of a declaration of nullity.

The term "annulment" is a misnomer because the Church does not undo or erase a marriage bond.

Rather the Church issues a declaration of nullity when it discovers that the parties were not truly joined by God and hence a full spiritual sacramental marriage as understood by the Church was not present.

Then the parties are free to marry for the first time.

Approach the appropriate person your in your parish who has been trained in the process. If you encounter difficulties, you may go directly to the diocese.

Be prayerful, honest and patient. It takes a while.

    With love in Christ.
