Question:

Egyptian Theme?

I eventually want to decorate my room Egyptian. I have a website for furniture called Design Toscano. (www.designtoscano.com) I also already collect some Egyptian things. I also have a lamp and a Great Pyramid of Giza glass-topped table that I got at Design Toscano. Does anyone know how I should decorate my room? Should I make the walls look like limestone or should I make it look like the inside of a tomb? What colors should I use? I know gold would be an obvious color, but what else? What should my bed be like? My floor? I've liked ancient Egypt since I was in 6th grade and I'm 20 now. Can someone help me? =]

  1. there is a catalogue/magazine called toscano.

    they have egyptian themed section!

    here's the link:

this would be PERFECT just dont go overboard!

  2. That sounds like it could be great. I love having a personalized bedroom (I have a full-wall mural of Starry Night).

Ok, so here's what I would do:

Paint: As tempting as it may be to do textured paint or a faux-stone treatment, it can make the room seem too themed. I would go with a color like Benjamin Moore (check out my source to see the colors online; try them on Bedroom 2) "Henderson Buff" for the walls, a darker colored trim like "Cupcake", and if you're up for painting the ceiling, a shade like "Princeton Gold", which is related to Henderson Buff.

Furniture: Wicker or dark wood (think dark walnut).

Bedding: I'd do a bright blue-turquoise, like Tutankhamen's mask. You could also get a throw blanket to give some pattern. See the amazon.com link below.

Extras: This is where you can go all out. Go for gold statuettes, wall sculptures, etc. The site you referenced looks like it has a great selection.

    Good luck with everything!

  3. First of all that is a cool idea, but you can easly cross the bored from fun and unique to tacky as h**l.

I would paint the walls a lovely sand stone. And then only do "Stone" detailing on the wall your bed would go one.

For your bed, I would get a nice back wood head board, with almost a lotus flower red detail carving, if you can imagine that. And then get a muslin canopy for it.

I would use the same fabric of the canopy for the curtains.

And get a cool area rug for the floor.

Good luck I hope this helps, I am sure your room will turn out well.

    Cheers.
