How can I learn about Egyptian popular music?

I was in Egypt winter of 2006-07 and there was a popular song people were playing that I loved. A woman with a high voice was singing fast. It had a lot of energy. A music store was playing the song and I asked the woman working there to buy the CD with that song on it, but when I got home, it was the wrong CD, the song was not on it. I don't understand that.

I wish I knew the singer's name, I don't know how to describe the song any better.

I'd like to learn about Egyptian popular music in general as well.

If you had bought the CD then the name of the artist is probably written on it in english.
