Egyptians: do u still buy a "fanoos" or u think its childish?

    but i LOVE el fanoos ..... i don't buy one every year though .. but one every now & then keda

    as beautiful mind said ... i love enjoying the moment ... but not only in Ramadan .. in any other occasions as well ..... i adore our folklore, customs & traditions .

    when i was young,i used to get my fanoos & tell all my cousins to bring theirs too ..and we go into a dark room & start playing & singing Ramadan's songs ... i'll give it a try this year :D

    our ages range between 19-24 ... lamma ashoof hy3melo feya eh if i told them so :D loool

  4. the fanous is symbolic of Ramadan.

    i get it and hang it in the balcony to share the feeling with all neighbors and passers by in the street.

    it is beautiful.

    Fasting is the religious act and the fanoos is part of the tradition.  They go hand in hand.  Can't separate them!

  6. We , my husband and I, have this habit of buying a rather big fanous, and hang it as a lamp in our balcony.

    This is gives the joy of this blessing month, to us, our visitors,and the whole area around.

    it makes you enjoy the moment of being in Ramadan. celebrating the holy month as you celebrate it inside your heart.

    and your children will become more emotionally attached to Ramadan with joyful and happy feelings
