Egypt’s second victory in African Junior Women’s Volleyball Championship
The five-nation volleyball action in African country Tunisia created a great opportunity for the aspiring young stars of volleyball to get recognition for their good work. The 13th African Nations Junior Women’s Volleyball Championship had an
amazing run from 14-18 October, 2010 in Tunisia. Teams from Algeria, Rwanda, Cote d’Ivoire and Egypt made their presence felt in the city of Tunis, along with host team from Tunisia.
Egypt opened the tournament with an early win over Algeria on Thursday. The Egyptian team was in great form and entered the tournament with an excellent plan. They demonstrated a mind-blowing performance on the opening day and cautioned other teams in the
squad to get their horses ready to run. Egypt was challenged by Rwanda in their second match on Friday, 15th October, 2010.
The two teams appeared on the court and fire was ignited. The Pharaohs easily managed to dismiss Rwandan girls and bagged second victory in African Championship. They claimed triumph by posting a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, and 25-16)
 Detailed overview
The charged-up Egyptians were fully prepared to overpower Rwanda’s team. They captured good spot in the first set by delivering perfect serves. They attacked with best of their hitters and also remained focused on defence. Thanks to the two centres who didn’t
allow any ball to create problem for Egyptian squad. The setter was quick in her position and formed right combination with the offensive hitter. Rwanda’s team was fresh and excited as they were playing their first match in the tournament.
The Rwandan team had some good players, who fought for better status and faced Egyptian hitters confidently. They threw the ball from measured angles and helped their score but Egypt started the heavy strike and barred their movement. Egyptian players had
good tactics and they nicely executed solid shots in Rwanda’s court. The good attack-attempts put pressure on Rwanda and they fell back. The gap of points was stretched with a few well put-away shots from Egypt’s hitters. Egypt took the control of operations
and quickly covered the length of first set. They posted 25-11 victory over Rwanda in the opening set.
Egypt remained consistent in sending the ball in Rwanda’s court. The deadly spikes and tricky bump-passes continued in the second set. Rwandan players seemed un-easy in their positions as Egyptian players jumped on every possible opportunity to score points
and they had been very successful in their approach. It seemed like the ball just needed the touch of Egyptian spikers and it moved like a bullet. Rwanda tried to return the shots but it took them great effort to do so. Brazil was in full commanding position
after the second technical timeout, while the Rwandan team slowed down and lost energy to defend their position.
Egypt had a clear dimension to move forward and finish the second set with victory. They remained on the winning course and scored another set-victory at 25-14.
Egyptians speeded up as they could see the clear signs of victory. They put more effort in third set and tightened the screws of Rwandan team. Anyhow, Rwanda caused a lot of resistance in third set. They struggled to save points with good defence and tried
different approach to overcome Egypt. On the other hand, Egypt worked out more powerful shots and threw everything in attack.
Egypt was all set for victory and they also had luck on their side. They poked the ball with a touch of their fingers and added points to their score. Rwanda put up good fight in third set but ultimately accepted defeat from the in-form Egyptian team. Third
set ended in Egypt’s favour with a score of 25-16. Egypt achieved a well-deserved victory after displaying great show at the podium of African Nations Championship.
