http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ehsan-Mani-c55791 slams PCB administration – Cricket News Update
Former ICC President Ehsan Mani, on Sunday criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board’s administration saying the top brass of the PCB has been given free hand to do whatever they want to with “no accountability”.
The PCB chief and few other top officials are directly appointed by the patron in chief of the board, the President of Pakistan, and most of the time they do not have any cricketing background. Mani believes that this is the major reason behind the issues Pakistan cricket is currently facing.
"The biggest stakeholders of cricket in Pakistan are the cricket associations and the affiliate members of the PCB. They have no say in who will run Pakistan cricket," said Mani while speaking to the Pakpassion.
"The person who is enforced on them by the President of Pakistan...means that person has no accountability to the stakeholders – he's given a total free hand to do what he wishes with no accountability," the ex-ICC President explained.
Mani, who was Pakistan's representative in world cricket’s apex governing body (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) before becoming its President in 2003, was also critical of PCB’s decision to send its national team to India for a short limited-overs series later this month.
The ex-ICC chief reckoned the BCCI had caused huge financial loss to Pakistan in the past by refusing to play a bilateral series even at a neutral venue, and by agreeing to play a series at their backyard the PCB is helping their Indian counterparts to make a lot of money.
"This short series will enable BCCI to earn over USD 100 million, probably as much as USD 150 million. All we're doing is to help India make a lot of money out of us, with no assurance of a reciprocal tour," Mani noted.
The former ICC chief also wanted the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket following BCCI’s cancellation of two series in the past.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since December 2007, when the latter toured the former. The Men in Blue were scheduled to play a series in Pakistan the next year, but the BCCI called off the tour in the aftermath of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 terror attacks in November 2008.
