  1. There is almost nothing more stupid than running a Kentucky Derby horse the day before the biggest event of the year. Millions of dollars at stake, there's no way they would have run that horse in a race the day before the Kentucky Derby.

    And it's Eight Belles

  2. People are confused by this.  The owners wanted to send Eight Belles to the Derby.  However, they didn't want her breaking from the far outside in a field with 20 colts.  Therefore, just in case, they entered her in the Oaks the day before the Derby.  The Oaks is the race for girls.  She drew post positions for both races.  She would have broke from the outside of 12 horses in the Oaks.  She drew post 5 in the Derby.  Since she got such a bad post in the Oaks and such a great post in the Derby, the owners decided that they would run in the Derby.  Therefore, they scratched from the Oaks... that means they took her out of that race.  So Eight Belles only ran in the Derby.  She was coming into the Derby off of 3 weeks rest, just like all the colts in the race.  Her last start was the Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Isn't it remarkable that some moron gives a thumbs down for very factual answers?  There's not even anything to disagree with here.  Some people are really idiots.

  6. No, she didn't race in that race.  She was entered in it, but they scratched her cuz she was going to run in the Derby.
