Eight Endura riders to join Team NetApp-Endura in 2013
As many as eight cyclists from Team Endura Racing have been given contracts to ride along the newly merged side, Team NetApp-Endura for the season ahead.
Eight cyclists coming from Team Endura to represent the new team for the season ahead include, Camano Ortuzar (33, Spa), Zakkari Dempster (24, Aus), Russell Downing (34, GBr), Jonathan McEvoy (23, GBr), Erick Rowsell (22, GBr), Scott Thwaites (22, GBr),
Paul Voss (26, Ger) and Alexander Wetterhall (26, Swe).
It was announced earlier that the British-based side, Team Endura Racing will join hands with the German-based Team NetApp for the 2013 season.
The newly formed Professional Continental Team NetApp-Endura will be a new experience for many cyclists coming from the British team.
"The quality of the individual riders is a boost for us. Their success throughout the entire season on the Europe Tour speaks for itself,” Team Manager Ralph Denk said
“The fact that the core of this very successful team is remaining intact and switching over to us gives us an important advantage for next season".
"We have undergone a sporting development that is virtually unprecedented".
"In three years we have managed to develop young riders into significant performers at the Giro d'Italia.
“With ten victories so far, the team races its best season ever. I am delighted that NetApp continues to support this."
Team NetApp-Endura final squad for the 2013 season includes 17 cyclists at the moment and new signings are expected as the 2012 season approaches its end.
The 17 riders include, Jan Barta (27, Cze), Cesare Benedetti (25, Ita), Iker Camano Ortuzar (33, Spa), Zakkari Dempster (24, Aus), Russell Downing (34, GBr), Markus Eichler (30, Ger), Bartosz Huzarski (31, Pol), and Blaz Jarc (24, Slo).
Leopold Koenig (24, Cze), Jonathan McEvoy (23, GBr), Erick Rowsell (22, GBr), Andreas Schillinger (29, Ger), Daniel Schorn (23, Aut), Michael Schwarzmann (21, Ger), Scott Twaites (22, GBr), Paul Voss (26, Ger) and Alexander Wetterhall (26, Swe) will also
represent the team in the coming year.
It will be interesting to see, how the newly formed team performs in the current season as it definitely has the strongest squads to compete in the 2013 season.
