Eight greyhounds qualified for upcoming Final in round 3 of Dubuque Classic on Saturday, 27th August
Saturday night, eight greyhounds qualified for the upcoming final of Dubuque Classic in coming September.
The grading system of the Dubuque Classic was such that each participant who finished first in any race was awarded twenty points, twelve points for the second position, eight points for finishing the race third, five points for finishing fourth, three points
for finishing fourth, two points for finishing third and one and zero pints for finishing seventh and eight respectively.
A total of sixteen participants raced in the semi final on Saturday out of which eight greyhounds made it to the finals.
As expected Chasin the Riches stood first in the semi finals followed by Tod N Tyler in the second position.
Chasin the Riches is also the only greyhound in the Dubuque Classic to have finished the race first in all the three races he competed in. His scoring points were 60/60.
Unfortunately for Tod N Tyler he was not able to defeat Chasin the Riches in the third qualifying round on Saturday and qualified for the second position in a race for the first time in the Dubuque Classic races scoring net points 52/60.
Kb’s Smokin Jess was also the first greyhound to cross the wire in the second race in the semi final on Saturday. WW’s McBride finished second in the same race following Kb’s Smokin Jess closely at his heels.
Greyhounds Boc’s Mouse and By Polar made it third in the first and second races respectively. However, By Polar has not qualified for the final since his net points, 21/60, in the three qualifying rounds were less than the net points of eight qualifying
greyhounds.
Boc’s Mouse has earned a total of 23/60 points in the three qualifying rounds making his score the lowest among the eight qualifiers for the finals. Any greyhound with a score lower than this has been disqualified for the final.
JD King Red and Taking Cool were the fourth greyhounds to finish their races respectively earning total points up to 22/60 and 18/60, overall in three qualifying rounds and were hence unable to make it to the final.
The eight qualifiers for the finals with their scores in descending order are Chasin the Rich (60/60), Hl’s Tod N Tyler (52/60), KB’s Smokin Jess (43/60), WW’s McBride (35/60), Prickly Pooch (34/60), Boc’s Dragonfly(26/60), Frankly My Girl( 24/60), Boc’s
Mouse(23/60).
Interestingly three qualifiers for the final have performed very poorly but they managed to qualify for the final based on their previous scores in Round 1 and Round 2.
These include Prickly Pooch who finished sixth in the race, Boc’s Dragonfly who finished seventh in the race and Frankly My Girl who was the last greyhound to cross the finish line and yet qualified owing to her spectacular performances previously.
The third Round of Dubuque Classic was surely a night of triumphs and surprises. Its hard to predict the final except for Chasin the Rich since he has matched up to his expectations and upheld his standard throughout this tournament.
