Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Matthias Lehmann has insisted that there is still room for improvement as his side played a draw against St. Pauli in this week’s 2.Bundesliga fixture. He claimed that he can improve as a player and
better on his performances further as his team hopes to make a comeback in the first division in the next campaign.
Eintracht Frankfurt were relegated from the Bundesliga along with FC St. Pauli last season. The Eagles have made a promising start to the 2.Bundesliga campaign and have accumulated four points from two games and sit fifth on the
standing stable currently.
Lehmann admitted that he will have to improve further on his performances. He claimed that the team has to learn from its mistakes from the last season in the Bundesliga, which led to the relegation, and improve.
The midfielder stated that the team is well capable of putting in great performances like the first match of the league they played against Greuther Furth and won 3-2 in an away clash.
“There is what is true for the whole team: I still have room to grow. We have seen that the team morale. We have shown again, catch up, as in the first game in Nuremberg, then we could also win,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German Under-21 international rued missed chances in the 1-1 draw against former club FC St. Pauli at home. He admitted that his side lacked the attacking flare in the first-half but the performance after the interval was impressive.
He added that the team plays brilliantly on the offensive and that should be that tactical plan for the remaining season.
“We had major problems accessing our opponents get. In the second half we then switched to two sixes in the midfield, because we came into the game. But overall we still have to be aggressive,” he concluded.
Matthias Lehmann made 66 league appearances for FC St. Pauli in his two years at the club before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in this summer’s transfer window.
